There are many different insurance options to choose from, but if you have your car on a loan or a lease, gap insurance might be the right option for you! Gap insurance is the right choice if you owe more on your car than it is worth. If you don’t have gap insurance and your car is totaled, you’ll have to pay the difference between the insurance settlement and what you owe the dealer, meaning you’re stuck paying more and you still don’t have a car.
The ‘gap’ in gap insurance actually stands for ‘guaranteed asset protection’, which is designed to keep you from paying too much in the early years of car ownership, should an accident or damage occur. Cars lose a lot of value once they’re driven off the lot, so your need for gap insurance will go down after the first few years, once you’ve started making regular payments. Speak to your insurance company about gap insurance options today!

Find out all the facts about correct use of high beams for your vehicle, especially on roads and highways like I-4 in Central Florida
Every car out there is equipped with high beams, but that doesn’t mean every driver knows how to use them properly. We’ve all been there, driving at night, a car comes around the bend and blinds you with their brights— that they just refuse to turn off. Since the decreased visibility at night can be a serious safety hazard, it’s important to not add to the danger by improper use of a vehicle’s high beams. Here’s a quick refresher from your Five Star team here at Posner Park Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat on when and when not to turn on the bright lights.
Using Your High Beams Safely
First, let’s talk about the correct use of high beams.
- When visibility is low and there are no drivers in front of you.
- If you are at least 200 feet behind a vehicle and its back lights don’t illuminate the road well enough for you to see.
- When oncoming traffic is at least 500 feet away and you need the high beams to see well.
Now, let’s go over when not to use them. Remember, this is for the safety of everyone on the road.
- Turn them off when traffic is approaching you, even if there is a median.
- When taking a curve, you don’t know who might be coming around the bend, so don’t use your high beams then, either.
- The same goes with hills, you don’t know if someone is about to crest the hill and be blinded.
- At intersections, turn them off so you don’t blind someone traveling on the cross street.
- High beams won’t help in fog, so make sure to keep them off during these conditions. The fog will actually just reflect the light back to you, making it even harder to see.
We hope these tips help you know when to use high beams on the road and when to turn them off. Safety is everyone’s responsibility, and we’re here to help.
