For many years, the Ram 1500 has set the benchmark for durability, technology, convenience, and efficiency with features that have never been seen in a pickup. The dominance looks to continue in 2020 as the Ram becomes the nation's most potent pickup with its 480 lb-ft of torque and a towing capacity of 12,560 pounds. All this power is nicely controlled via a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine, which leads the segment with its massive horsepower and spectacular fuel economy. Despite its large size, the Ram is very easy to drive and is one of the most versatile and capable trucks on the planet as the interior is user-friendly, roomy, well-equipped, and refined. One of the most popular models that the Ram 1500 has to offer is the Big Horn, and that's what we will be talking about today. Continue reading as we break it all down!

AVAILABLE ENGINES

Standard on all trim levels, the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine with eTorque uses advanced technologies like wide-range variable valve timing and two-step variable valve lift to deliver power, standard V6 efficiency and Best-in-Class standard V6 horsepower.

New to the Ram this year is an EcoDiesel engine that produces a whopping 480 lb-ft of torque and the best half-ton diesel towing capacity at 12,560 pounds. New for the Big Horn is a Night Edition which includes a monochromatic design that is brought to life with 20-inch black wheels, black badging, and some crisp exterior details. The Big Horn is also available in a bunch of different body colors, including three new ones, such as Hydro Blue, Walnut Brown, and Olive Green.
The Ram Big Horn is available with either a V6 or a V8 engine, and a 48-volt hybrid system helps both, but you can get the V8 without the electric support. Coming standard is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that pumps out an impressive 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque which comes with the 48-volt hybrid that is designed to help with the fuel economy but also adds 90 lb-ft of torque. Optional is Ram’s tried-and-true 5.7-liter V8 that comes with 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. One of the best things about the V8 is that it can run of half of its cylinders to save on fuel, it also comes with a vibration system to reduce shudder when those cylinders shut down. Both engines pair with a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.
For the Big Horn, you get all the traditional elements of the Ram plus 18-inch aluminum wheels, foglights, and a 60/40-split rear seat. There is also a bunch of options, including either an 8.4-inc or 12-inch touchscreen that both offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Choosing the Big Horn with the 6'4" bed also gets you cloth-upholstered front bucket seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, foglights, and 18-inch alloy wheels. In addition to the features, the Ram has twice the interior storage as anything the competition offers thanks to the functional cubby stowage and vast passenger space. While we love all the tech features the Ram offers, we also love the high amount of special graphics packages. Included is a military-themed Built to Serve package as well as Black Edition and Night Edition packages, which add black colored styling elements.
There is so much to love about the Ram 1500 Big Horn! The powerful engines allow for massive levels of torque and towing, while the tech features and styling packages add a little bit of flair to the big truck.
